چکیده

Abstract We conducted one of the first complex geomorphological investigations underground abandoned slate mines in Czechia, Central Europe. Sixty types subterranean geomorphic forms were described from 114 Nízký Jeseník Upland. The forms, evaluated according to their type, scale, frequency, and fragility, are independent each other or embedded. Their cascades occur large multilevel affected by fluvial gravitational processes. Analysis microforms revealed mine pearls enriched with titanium, calcareous soda-straw stalactites, amorphous calcareous-sulphurous piles, quartz veins. Forty-seven identified failures. Four-year measurements cracks both negligible oscillations distinct displacement rock blocks up 4 mm. range together measured crack point rich geodiversity high dynamics within mines. Compared geosystems, geomorphology remains poorly investigated, although knowledge systems is crucial for future natural evaluation, risk assessment, remediation, tourist management mining sites. recent results applicable world. However, we should expect new findings investigation as yet undescribed forms.

Estimating Limits for the Geothermal Energy Potential of Abandoned Underground Coal Mines: A Simple Methodology

Flooded mine workings have good potential as low-enthalpy geothermal resources, which could be used for heating and cooling purposes, thus making use of the mines long after mining activity itself ceases. It would be useful to estimate the scale of the geothermal potential represented by abandoned and flooded underground mines in Europe. From a few practical considerations, a procedure has been...

Gas Drainage Improvement in Underground Coal Mines

Effective gas management is vital to the success of the longwall mining in the Bulli seam, in the Southern Coalfield, Sydney Basin, NSW, Australia. The evolution of gas drainage methods and practices are discussed with respect to gas type, gas drainage lead time and prevailing geological conditions. Both underground to inseam drilling and surface to inseam drilling techniques are described at b...

Radio Frequency Communication Systems in Underground Mines

Due to the high attenuation of radio frequency (RF) signals in underground mines and the statutory power restriction of communication gadgets especially for coal mines, the wireless communication systems have restricted applications in the underground mines. The paper discusses different radio frequency communication techniques being employed for Indian underground mines. Experiments were condu...

Rock dusting considerations in underground coal mines

Rock dusting to prevent coal dust explosions has been in widespread use in U.S. underground coal mines since the early 1900s. Underground coal mining technology has changed significantly over this same time period, becoming highly mechanized and produces finer coal dust particles which are more explosive. Despite the advances in mining technology, mine-wide dust sampling practices have remained...

Abandoned Uranium Mines Project Atlas Project Overview

The Navajo Nation is located on the Colorado Plateau and encompasses over 25,000 square miles across Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The distinctive physiography of this region has resulted in a major mining area for uranium. The Navajo Nation includes intensely dissected rocky regions and has elevations that range from about 3,000 feet to slightly over 10,000 feet. The region is known for a wid...
